We have a modern well kept Village Hall in Church Street, (with thanks to a Lottery Grant of £96.000.00 in 2001 to update the premises and to include access for a Disabled Persons Toilet) and it is such an asset to our community life. We are proud to offer fibre broadband wifi facilities at the hall, which have been provided free of charge by Gigaclear
Background
The Village Hall was purpose built and opened in May 1974. Prior to this, it was known as the Recreation Hut situated in Chapel Street. Due to legislation, costly work was essential to provide up to date facilities. At a Public Meeting it was decided to raise funds for a new Village Hall and Elton Estates kindly offered the present site for sale which was accepted.
In 1970 the Warmington New Village Hall Committee was formed to raise funds and indeed two of the members still currently serving on the present Village Hall Committee Maureen Eden and Elizabeth Dakteris.
The Hall is managed voluntarily by a Committee elected annually and representative members of Organisations. There is no involvement or assistance from any local or statutory Organisations or Local Authority. It is purely self financing and available for use by any persons or organisations wishing to hire at the discretion of the Committee.
The Hall has been used for Upholstery Classes, Indoor Bowls, Exercise Classes, Toddler Group, Horticultural Society, St Mary's Church, Women of Warmington (WOWS), Cinema, Parish Council Meetings, North Northants Council (Local Elections etc) and the Senior Citizens Annual Christmas Party. Also, many other bookings take place during the year for various events and occasions. Parishioners regularly use the Hall for family occasions, Wedding Receptions, Christenings, birthday celebrations and even Ballroom Dancing etc. The Hall is available for hire by non parishioners but at a higher rate.
Fundraising events are essential to keep hire charges as low as possible and relies on income from these and donations for repairs and replacements when required.
Your continued support is greatly appreciated.
